A lot of TV hype has made Goji berry plants so popular and important. Goji berries have their origins in China. Nobody knew about them for many years Now, everybody knows about them. Hollywood movie stars were some of the very first people to use them and many are swayed by them.

Goji berry plants are a type of evergreen native to China and Tibet. They have been known by the locals to fight fevers, lowering blood pressure, improving eyesight, cleansing the system of toxins and most of all giving long life.

Goji berries have antioxidant qualities. As you probably know that antioxidants can help fight heart disease and decrease a person’s risk of getting cancer. They also decrease the overall effects of aging especially in the skin.
Isn’t that great?! In fact, the Vitamin A in Goji berries is absolutely good for your body. However, western research has not been able to prove whether the Goji berry plants contain more healthy properties than other more common berries like blueberries, blackberries etc. As such, still more research needs to be conducted in this direction.

Until now, research shows that there may be some side effects for those suffering from diabetes and those who take warfarin (or other blood thinners). The Goji may cause a negative reaction with these associated drugs. Beyond that, it seems to be a safe food for consumption.
